2000i plotter drivers

Is it possible to use the AutoCAD 2000i plotter drivers in AutoCAD 2000?

Our 66 AutoCAD 2000 seats still can not get a plot with good greyscale and
merge control from our small HP printers (I have applied the plotter update, 3d
graphics update, and both service packs).

The 6 new AutoCAD 2000i users are ecstatic with the functionality of the new
drivers for the small HP printers.

In AutoCAD 2000 I've configured the printers as network printers which allows
merge control via the PC3 file. Unfortunately, the greyscale suffers from the
chunky dithering. If I configure the printers as system printers, I get good
greyscale but no merge control.

In AutoCAD 2000i I've configured the printers as system printers which now
allows merge control via the PC3 file.

Thanx, Tony

If you are talking about Windows System drivers they are universal and will
be fine but the HDI non system drivers are different and will not work. The
merge control is available for many HDI drivers with the AutoCAD 2000
Plotting Update but AutoCAD 2000i added support for line merge in most
System drivers and you cannot get this in AutoCAD 2000.

Shaan,

I'm talking about the HDI system drivers.

In my AutoCAD 2000i PC3 file, the HDI system driver is GDIPLOT7.HDI
(version 1.1-7.0.15.90)
In my AutoCAD 2000 PC3 file, the HDI system driver is GDI6.HDI (version
1.1-6.0.15.158) which gives good greyscale but no merge control.

I was hoping for a way to allow AutoCAD 2000 to use the newer GDIPLOT7.HDI
file.

Thanx, Tony

Anthony,

The HDI driver you are referring to is misleading as it is the Graphic
Display Interface communication driver for the System drivers not a real non
system HDI printer driver. You cannot use this in AutoCAD 2000.

The only solution to your problem is an 'i' upgrade.
