mCloth Attaching a Group to a animated object

I've created an mCloth Rope object and want to have it controled by a driver object. I have made the group to attach, and it works fine, but as soon as I attach it to an animated object and run the simulation, it shoots off the scene. If I detach the group, it works fine. Does anyone know what's happening?

Something else that I just discovered, at the time the mCloth object shoots off the screen, all of the objects in the scene get the normals flipped. What the heck is going on.
