Realistic sand animation

Hi all,
I need to create a shot like the 'sandman' formation in spiderman 2. It would be around 20-30 sec. I would like to know the efficient way of doing it.

reference : sandman video

Using pflow and rendering with krakatoa will give you the best results.

Thanks Krueger. Well what about the inter particle collisions?? can we pull it off with 'keep apart' operator?

Depends on the animation you're doing. I would try to sculpt it first without looking at inter-particle collisions. If it's not close up, you probably won't notice it anyway.

Using pflow tools box #2 with the physx collision would probably be a better alternative. You could use a low amount of particles, then create a high number of partitions in krakatoa to build up the volume.
