Validate item field on parent and child item for relationships

We use BOMs to show data hierarchies.
Example hierarchy:
  • Pricing - which is a parent of
  • Offering - which is a parent of
  • Release - which is a parent of
  • Product Line Code - which is the lowest level of child
Can we do a validation from a field in a Parent item details form to a child BOM?
The Pricing form has a field to display Product name and show some derived fields that are used in a pricing calculations. Can we ensure that somewhere down the chain of BOMs, that the same Product is added as a child?

The validation logic may possibly only be done on a workflow transition.

Hi Cruzj,

I thinks this might address your need.

Reading: http://help.autodesk.com/view/PLM/ENU/?guid=GUID-CCEBB499-C710-471E-9CA5-9D8D5F80E304

Currently our import tool allows you to import information through level structure.  This will help build the level in the BOM to correspond to the Parent level and the child level.

You can also set the date effectivity data, lifecycle state, release date and revision.

Second part,

You can utilize the supplier WS to import in the supplier information.

Next activate the sourcing tab in the Items and BOM.  You can write a script to take the information from the item details to populate the field in the sourcing tab.  Once all the pricing's are in the sourcing tab, it will roll up to the BOM tab.

Please give this a try, and feel free to reach out if you have additional questions.

Thanks,

Trung
