Ordering BOM Items

We need to have a better way to order item numbers in our BOMs. If we're creating a BOM from scratch, we have go back in to the BOM and adjust the sort # on most of the item numbers. When we import a BOM the system will order them the way it wants to, so we have to go back in and order most every item. When we add items to an existing BOM, the system places them at the end. Why can't your system  just simply order items in ascending or descending order??

Hi DTWIGG,

During import of the BOM Level, you can see the order of the Item Parts.

This will help minimize the function of importing the BOM and re-arranging in the BOM Tab.

Please give this a try.

agreed; this is an issue, but the example provided as a solution seems to be not referring to Item Numbers within a level.

we found the apparently random re-numbering of Item Numbers at import so troublesome that we immediately created a separate column in our BOMs in order to have a place to maintain the Item Numbers as what we needed them to be.

PLM360 should naturally import BOMs with the Item Numbers that they're associated with on the spreadsheets they're imported from, as many Assy Models/Dwgs are created referring to those Item Numbers.
