"Add" button does not show in attachement tab?

I have been granted with add/edit/delete attachments permissions, but on the [WS] attachment tab the "Add' button does not appear. Any thought? (I have done the same for other [WS] w/o problems.

Hi Frank,

On the attachments tab, move your mouse to the right of the tab and you will see a drop down Menu to "Upload Attachment".

Please let me know if this helps you.

John,

I cannot locate the "upload attachment" menu. The only option is thru "Add" button for my other [WS].

Frank - could you share what permissions the workspace has?  As long as you have these base permissions, you should have the ability to add files.

If you removed 'add attachements' the button goes away and you need view attachments to see the tab. Thanks!

It could also be that you're locked by workflow or a revision.  Make sure that there isn't any other reason it could be locked (also checking to make sure you can edit other things in the workspace is a pretty clear indicator)

Michelle,

I have all the permissions for the attachement.

Brian,

I can update fileds in the detail tab. The [WS] is a basic one with workflow. On the [WS] setup page, it shows a msg: To Do: Upload a workflow. Is this missing workflow that could cause the problem?

I can't remember off hand but yes - it could be locked (especially if you've created items before you added a workflow - these would be locked.

So - add a workflow to that workspace and you'll probably be okay

OR

Add the permission (temporarily) called "Admin override workflow locks" to allow you to edit the workspace records that are locked by the WF (or lack)

And confirmed - I created a new workspace with workflow w/o uploading a workflow and low and behold, no 'add' button on the attachments tab.

Great news frank!

Those items you added before hand will be "orphaned" from the workflow - i would suggest a couple things..

  1. Add a workflow - even if it's a VERY simple one with just two basic states.  This will ensure that the items all are in a state that will survive and be ready for real workflow later.
  2. If you have created some items - I would suggest you purge them out and create new ones (after the workflowhave been created).  If you need to export and reimport to get them back that works too.

Hope this helps!
