Workflow email notification

In workflows.. 'when this transition is performed'.. 'notify by email on occurance'...who does it notify?

Hello,

 

Notify by email on Occurrence – Enable this setting to get an email when the transition is saved and you move to the next transition.  This is forward looking to the next transition so if you have approval permissions on the next transition you would get an email notification.
