Thats not completely true. You can control the Item Detail fields you want included in workflow notification emails.

Scott,

You are correct.  You are now able to edit the content of the email notification based on the already contained fields. You can also do a global change for the subject matter.

But unfortunately at this time without advanced scripting you cannot change the structure of the email. This can be completed however with the usage of advance scripting and advance print views.

My apologies about the outdated information as this FAQ needed to be updated with the latest release.

John,

This looks like the functionality I need to change the content of notification emails;

- however, when I try and edit the Item Details tab of my workspace, the Workflow Notification Fields panel is greyed out and it doesn't allow me to drag the Item Details field into it.

- Can you advise/

Thanks,

Alan

I found my problem!

- i was trying to drag 'unassigned' fields, but of course for the email notification to work, you must drag a field that has already been assigned to the workflow.

(I thought i would need to clone the field but when you drag the field, it creates a copy/instance so cloning is not needed).

I'd like to be able to edit the content in our email notifications.  I saw the note about advanced print views, but I don't think this it applies to this situation.  Here's my issue, the workflow notification emails include hyperlinks for viewing the subject item and also for approving/advancing/rejecting the item.  Some users mistakenly click on the Workflow Actions links (in the screenshot "Return" or "Submit for Release," which advances the workflow before they review it completely or complete their tasks.  In our opinion, there is no reason to advance the workflow without reviewing it first, so we would like to remove the Workflow Action section in the email and only leave the "View Item Details" link.  Is this possible?

Hi Andrew,

If you want to custom the email and if it is not only a modification of the fields, you can create an action script to send the email that you would like to send.

Here is an example that I have done for my company (HTML code for notification). Visually it is very close to the Autodesk notification.

Cheers,

Sylvain

Thanks, Sylvain.  I might try that some day if I have time.  I'm not experienced in scripting, so it would probably take me a while to figure out how to adapt your script to my application.  I was hoping I could just delete a couple lines from the system email script and be on my way.  I appreciate your response, though.

Andy
