Grid Print Order

Hi,

I have specified in the 'grid tab' in a workspace setup that the sort order should be by a particular column. That seems to work fine when viewing the grid in the UI. However, when I print the grid (using a printview) it reverts back to being sorted by the row ID. Is there any way to change this?

Thanks,

David.

Hi David,

This is not something I can reproduce. Could you please provide us with an example? In my test, the column I sorted on contained characters only, no numbers. Could the issue be browser dependent?

Hi,

I have discussed this with my direct support contact. I have created a solution using scripts.

Thanks,

David.

David...can you share the solution for this?  I created an Advanced Print View of my Grid Tab and want it to sort like it does on the Grid Tab.

Thanks,

Pete

Hi,

I'm no longer with the company where this was implemented and I can't fully recall how we did it. However I think that the fix was to use the javascripting engine in PLM to do the following;

- Copy the entire grid into a javascript array

- Clear the grid

- Sort the javascript array using one of the columns and a rule

- Write the entire javascript array back into the grid

Its quite a crude way to do it but it worked. I think we eventually moved away from this and instead used the item creation or edit script to write a non-editable empty array into the grid.

Hope this helps. I'll be at Accelerate 2015 in Boston next week if you want to chat (as will be current admin of the system this was implemented on).

David.
