Derived Image Field

Are derived fields not intended to work with images, or is there a known bug?  I've added a derived field is meant to pull an image field from another workspace.  The image will preview when editing the item, but after saving, the image does not show.

Editing the item:

Item Edit Image Correct.PNG

After saving the item:

Hi Jason,

Thanks for the info, but as you mentioned, yes derived fields are only supporting text based input at this time. However this might be expanded in the future.

Please can you advise if PLM360 can now use derived images?

We did not envision derived fields to work with images, but they do work under certain conditions and we do hope to add official support for deriving images in the future.

As Hagay said there are some work arounds, you can do this by adding a derived picklist to the workspace that contains the images

Step 1

Create a workspace to be your image library

1.jpg

Step 2

Create 2 fields in your workspaces that needs to pull in the image

Image Name = Pick list that links to the workspace that was created in Step 1

Image jpg = Derived field pivoting on the Image name pick lists, and showing the Image jpg

Step 3

Select a name from the  pick list and this will be automatically display the image below
