Cloning question

Hi,

Is there any easy way to stop users from being able to clone certain items within a workspace?

Thanks,

David.

David,

Are you talking about cloning a workspace or Cloning or an item within a workspace?

If Workspace:

Only admins of the tenant should be able to get into the admin section of the tenant to clone a workspace.

If Item:

No you cannot restrict a section from being cloned unless that user does not have rights to that section.

However, one could create a admin section with a default field that will trigger a on creation script that would wipeout information from fields.

Hi Support Officer,

I have a similar question. I do not want my users to clone a record. I want them to always start a new item details and fill the information from scratch.

Is there anyway to remove the clone ability for a workspace?

Appreciate if someone can share their knowledge on this.

Thank you very much.

Best regards,

Carol Mak

Hi Carol,

The clone function that is available within an item is present when adding the workspace permission "Add Items".  If you take away that permission the plus symbol to Add an Item within a workspace is also removed.

This may be a request for you to post to the PLM 360 Idea Station .

Please include why this would be an important feature to help you with your business process.
