Did you attend any PLM 360 classes at AU 2012?

Share with everyone what you learned!

I managed to attend about 12 of them live!  I promise to come back and give my reviews if some of you guys will play along 🙂

Cheers,

Michelle

Hi Michelle

I attended 2 classes.

PLM didn't really turn me on. Used better business process mapping tools elsewhere with much more visual interface.

Great AU otherwise though!

happy to provide further feedback if you like

Martin

Martin,

Don't be afraid to mention these other tools - otherwise, how will we be able to make our own impartial evaluation?

All,

I attended three classes on PLM 360. The first was a general overview of creating workflows with the product. It was nice to see how this actually happens. The second was on scripting soloutions. This was OK, it was part of a two part class and I unfortunately couldn't attend the second part.

The final class was Mike Watkin's panel discussion. This was by far the best, as we got some real world examples of how people are actually using PLM360. It was a very bold descision of Autodesk to let the users speak, and absoloutly the right thing to do.

I attended 4 PLM related classes

PL3637-P - A Walk in the Cloud: Getting to Know Autodesk® PLM 360

I think for anyone who hadn't seen PLM 360 before this would have been an awesome class. For me, although we're not using it in production yet, I was able to get some ideas on different areas within my company to use PLM that I hadn't thought about.Rob is an excellent presenter, one of the best, so it had a nice even flow to it.

PL1700 - A Cracking Story Specialist Marine Interiors Experience with Autodesk Vault Pro and PLM 360

I found that SMI and my company are about at the same point with our Vault and PLM implementation so it was good to get some verification that we're doing things right and are on the right track. It was also good to get verification that PLM 360 is the direction we want to head in.

PL5835-R - The Tao of Autodesk® PLM 360

This started off a bit slow from the discussion side of things but once it took off it was really good. I really appreciated getting different perspectives on how to do things and different ideas on ways of implementation

PL2252 - Autodesk® PLM 360 Taking the Work Out of Workflow

Great technical details on workflows plus great discussion / questions from the audience. However the area I got the most was the discussion on approaching the setup. The questions that need to be asked and his workflow gathering all the information before starting the workflows. For those who are just implementing PLM or are doing a trial this is a must see.

Michelle,

I attended the PLM360 session on the tool AC built for PGE and Joint Pole use. It is an awesome application and solves a huge problem. I showed me the power of the PLM360 platform and got me thinking about what else could be built on it. It is no longer just "another Cloud thing", it was the platform of a real solution.

I'll put on my PLM 360 admin/end-user hat and talk about one of the sessions where I didn't really know what to expect, but got a lot out of it!

PL3433 - Change Agency Bureau: Autodesk® PLM 360 Change Agents Needed

Lots of good information - particularly about getting other folks in your company on board with using the system and finding processes that need improving at your company.  The speaker had a great tip about 'unleashing your inner Marketing Maven' by creating a 'teaser' video to get folks excited about new functionality and then a longer 'how-to' video.
