Proxy objects and enablers

Hey

I'm trying to open Inventor 2012 drawings in AutoCAD2000 .. I converted the files into ACAD2000 .dwg format but it still gives me error messages when I try to open it

The message says there are proxy objects in the file and gives me 4 missing applications I have to download ;

-AcIdViewObj

-ObjectDBX classes

-ACDB_MLEADERSTYLE_CLASS

-Inventor Drawing Application

I'm supposed to be able to download them on this website but I couldnt find them...

any help?

The "ObjectDBX classes" and ACDB_MLEADER_STYLE are types that are built into newer AutoCAD versions, so there are no object enablers for them for older AutoCAD versions.

I don't know if we ever had an Inventor object enabler for AutoCAD 2000.

I don't know what AcIdViewObj is, but the chances are that there isn't an object enabler for it for AutoCAD 2000 either - AutoCAD 2000 is quite old at this point and there weren't too many object enablers ever made for it.

That depends on what you want to do with them.  If you want to actually edit the geometry of the Inventor entities, then you're out of luck (even an object enabler wouldn't help).  If you just want to move, copy, scale, rotate then you might be able to do that with the proxies (as long as their flags are set to allow it).  Another possibility would be to try exploding the inventor entities in the drawing when loaded into Acad.  I don't know if the Inventor proxies will allow explode, but if they do, then you'll end up with simple circles, arcs, lines, etc. that make up the graphical representation that you see on screen.

Hi delisle.etienne,

Depending upon how you're taking the drawing from Inventor to AutoCAD, this might help:

Can you provide more details on your steps, as suggested on your other thread:

Link to your 3rd thread on this issue:

I hope this helps.
Best of luck to you in all of your Inventor pursuits,
Curtis
