UV-Packer 2 released

UV-Packer 2.0 (www.uv-packer.com) represents the perfection of simplicity and performance for uv map packing: it is a single click solution for packing all UV-Parts of your object in the best possible way.

You no longer need to spend hours moving, rotating and scaling your maps in order to utilize the whole mapping area – UV-Packer does it for you in a second.


3d-io has just released the major update of UV-Packer. It comes parallel to the ever more growing popularity and usage of UV tile workflow in Mari, Zbrush, Mudbox and Modo. To meet the expectations of texturing artists, 3d-io has leveled up UV-Packer with a set of functions for optimal and fast UV tile creation workflow.
 

What is new in UV-Packer 2?

- Automatic UV tile creation:
UV-Packer 2 offers 3D artists optimal UV packing in self-customizable UV tile sets. Artists now can easily control the number of UV tiles and automatically generate material IDs for each UV tile.

 


- Compatibility with Autodesk 3ds Max 2015


- Fixed a problem that made it impossible to pack an object with one or more very large UV charts when using tile distribution mode.
- Fixed an issue where packing in tile distribution mode sometimes didn’t work with certain mesh topologies.
- Performance increases: Faster UV data initialization, improved performance for tile mode distribution, prevented slowdowns when objects share a plug-in instance.
- Packing speed improvement.

- New video training material and online documentation.

UV-Packer 2 is available now for Autodesk 3ds Max 2010 or above. The update is free for all registered UV-Packer users, a new licence costs € 99,-.
