Back in the Old days, the RVM reader was a seperate package with a seperate licence. As this old version 5 is no longer available for sale, you only option is to use a more recent version of Autodesk Navisworks Simulate or an old NavisWorks Review to open the RVM. Only an old Review 2009 or 2010 is able to save as a version 5.nwd and those old versions are not for sale any more. I expect you will need to buy and start using Navisworks 2014.

Navisworks comes in different Flavours:

-> Freedom: can only open NWD and NWC files, view them and is for free. Compare it with Adobe Reader.

-> Simualte can open almost any 3D CAD file, including RVM, laser clouds and so on. These models can be combined and saved in a single NWD file for freedom to view. Compare it with Adobe Standard

-> Manage adds Clash Detection functionality to Simulate.

So download the 30-day trial of Manage 2015, open your RVM file, save it as an 2014 NWD and you can view the model with Freedom 2014.

Thank you very much, Patrick! Smiley Happy

Do you know if I can use Navisworks to convert from .rvm to .dgn file?

That is not the purpose of Navisworks. Navisworks is there to view, analyse 3D models.
However, there could be a way because you can save as FBX, convert that to DWG with 3D Studio and then use AutoCAD to save the DWG as DGN. But it is not a good idea, because you make a convertion of a convertion of a convertion. You will never have an idea if the convertion went well on all objects and you will loose all the poperties of the RVM objects.

In addition to Patrick's description for Simulate, it can also perform quantity take-offs, output animations, create schedules with the timeliner (which can coincide with animation output). For a little more information, go the 'Compare Navisworks Family' page.

But, he is right in the sense that Manage can perform everything PLUS clash detection. Obviously that's the "bread and butter."
