dwg elements hidden in Revit are shown in Navisworks

I'm using the Navisworks exporter in Revit to create the Navisworks files.  Nested in my Revit families are small, linked, 2D .dwg files that are not visible in Revit (visibility is turned off).  When I open the Navisworks file however, the dwgs are visible and distracting.  Is it possible to either not include the nested dwg files when creating the Navisworks file or not display the 2D dwg files in Navisworks?

Thanks,

Jon

When exporting from Revit in the Navisworks Exporter options are you exporting the full model or the current view? I would expect when exporting the full model for these files to be visible but not in current view.

You can Hide these DWG's from the Selection Tree in Navisworks.

Hi Jon,

Can you look at this article? I think this should resolve your problem, please let us know if it doesn't.

Hi Lee,

Thanks for the link.  I followed the procedure initially, but it didn't resolve the problem.  The dwg categories are not shown at both the family and project levels, but still show up in Navisworks.  It appears however (see attached) that just the dimension lines (no dimension text) and hatches are visible in Revit.  I'm using Revit 2012, the exporter to Navisworks 2012 and Navisworks Manage 2012.  Any other suggestions?

Thanks,

Jon

I think the first suggestion of setting up a Navisworks specific view without lines should resolve this. However if that isn't working for you or it is not possible to export the Current View then just switch off lines on the Viewpoint tab in Navisworks

I'm setting up the view to not show any imported categories from the Visibility Graphic Overrides dialog box.  Should it be done another way"

<<However if that isn't working for you or it is not possible to export the Current View then just switch off lines on the Viewpoint tab in Navisworks>>

To do this, I need to select the "Line" items from the selection tree correct?  One of my units has about 2000 Line, Arc and Solid entities in no particular order.  At 4500 units in a building, that would be about 9,000,000 items to pick through.

Any other ideas?

Thanks,

Jon

Hi Jon, That would be the correct way to set up the view however you may have additional lines as part of the categories, it depends on how the model was created. It may be better to work from the bottom up and add things you want to bring through rather than top down.

Regarding the Lines button, this would hide ALL lines in the model, the options display Faces, Lines and Points.
