Saving NavisWorks Manage 2013 File to pre-2011 format

Is it possible to save a NavisWorks 2013 file into a version older than 2011? For instance, to a 2010 format.  If so, how?

That only allows you to save back to 2011, and I need to save back to a 2010 file.

Unfortunately this is not directly feasible within Navisworks 2013. Each new major version of Navisworks supports saving to the most recent 3 major file versions, so in this case 2013, 2012, 2011. To save back to 2010 you would need to re-open in an earlier version & then use that version of Navisworks to do a second re-save.

For example saving as 2011, opening the file in Navisworks 2011 and then re-saving as 2010. To do as you require you would need Navisworks 2012 or 2011, both of which you can save to from 2013, and both of which can save to 2010.

If the receiving end-user only needs to view the file (e.g. they only have Navisworks 2010), they could freely install Freedom 2013 to view the output without re-saving it. No paid licensing is required for Freedom.

From a technical perspective, it is worth noting that significant changes occur in the space of 4+ years and sometimes much earlier versions of Navisworks file formats will not contain the necessary components to interpret/display all of the data that was in the original latest file. We attempt to convert back to a best representation as if the file had been converted in that version of Navisworks, but it is not guaranteed to be identical. Hypothetically, sometimes it can be as simple as a component we were licensed to use in an earlier version is not in use in the latest (or vice-versa) & therefore the new data is entirely alien to & incompatible with that older version.

Your mileage may vary.

Hope that helps,
