can anyone help
i have searched long and hard for this selection, do these worksets transfer across to Navis? this would make information selection a lot easier for saving
When you Export from Revit to Navisworks, using the plugin, first check the Navisworks settings: make sure all properties are checked to be written out with the NWC:
1) Convert element IDs <check>
2) Convert element parameters <ALL>
3) Convert element properties <check>
Then in Navisworks, you should have the workset associated to the objects as a filterable property.
There is NOT a Navisworks export from Revit option that sorts it by Worksets. But when you export all the properties, then in NW you can use the FILTER tool to build SearchSets based on the Properties:Workset. Assuming you were referencing Workset names: Mechanical, Electrical, Drainage; you could build a FIND queary where the Workset property contains Drainage. Then all objects that fit that criteria will highlight, and you can then save that SearchSet.
Dug into this a little bit and discovered something that may help you along as well. Once the NWC is exported and brought into Navisworks, you will need to have your pick resolution set to "First Object". Then there is a Properties tab that says WorksetID. Appears NW export converts the Workset name to an integer. Build your Filter accordingly.
thanks for your time,
i have used the worksetID it doesnt quite mirror the worksets in Revit. However i have found using
System Type quite useful for segregating my services
