Navisworks object enablers

We have navisworks manage 2011 and autocad mep 2011...When I append/import some of our own drawings everthing displays as boxes and wireframe. What am I doing wrong? I tried downloading the object enabler for these programs and it says everything is configured...not sure what else to do? Any help would be great.

Sommething that has helped me with issues like that in the past is:

1.  Open the MEP model in conceptual view in the CAD program.

2.  Export to a 3D DWF.

3.  Import 3D DWF to Navisworks

reno323,

Hello. You are either missing object enablers, the loader year setting is off, or you did not delete your NWC file before you tried to reload DWG your model.

When you load a DWG model, if an object enabler is missing or not configured correct and the model loads as wireframe, you have an NWC file converted incorrectly. If you install an object enabler and open your model again, it will look for any existing NWC file and load that file. If it was originally converted incorrectly, it will read the incorrectly converted file. You need to delete the NWC file and open the DWG file again to rebuild a new NWC with the Object enabler’s instructions.

The next part of the puzzle is the DWG loader year. Your DWG loader year needs to be set properly. If you click the Application button > Options the Options window will open. Click File Readers > DWG/DXF and you can set the DWG Loader Version to match the year of your model file. Click “OK”, close and restart Navisworks.

If you are using multiple file loader years, you may need to change this loader year to match the new file. After the file is initially converted, you should not need to delete the NWC file again.

After you load your DWG file, you can click Home > Project > Scene Statistics to make sure there are no missing enablers.

I have tried setting the years and have attempted installing the object enabler. It says my version of AMEP is configured. When I save the AMEP file in a 3D view everything works fine, but then if I ever save it in plan view I lose half my pipe and half my duct to single line entities. Is there a way to reload the object enabler? Its a a pain to have to resave my AMEP file into a 3d view just to make sure everything reloads correctly into Navis after any change I make. Any suggestions?

reno323,

Hello. Navisworks is a 3d viewer and needs a 3d model to covert the geometry properly. It is possible that you have your System Definitions set incorrectly for some items. You can check your System Definitions for the items causing you grief and make sure you do not have the display representations turned on to 1 or 2 line representations.

1.) In MEP, make sure you are in the correct workspace and click Manage > Style Manager > **Your Workspace** Definitions

2.) Select the proper Object and access the “Display Properties” tab. Make sure there are no style overrides set.

If you are in a plan view, I suppose you should make sure the geometry in question is actually 3d geometry. Have you viewed the model in the Navisworks Navigator module? If you have it installed, NWNAVIGATOR in the command line will open the Navigator module and you can view the model in MEP as it would display in Navisworks.
