Hi,
Navisworks can open IFC file. Is it possible to export navis files (4D) to IFC ?
It is only possible to save Geometry in Navisworks as DWF, DWFX, FBX, NWD, NWC and Google Earth KML files
Please consider the possibility of export to IFC in future version. In Scandinavia are often IFC is a legal requirement. Improt is fine, but import and export is far better.
Lee,
Any change to this federated IFC export from Navisworks? We are seeing nearly all the CAFM tools now ask for IFC/XML data and need to get this out of Navisworks otherwise we need to use Solibri
Thanks
Adrian

iConstruct now seem to have this

iConstruct indeed DOES have a solution for this.
And if you map the properties on the front end of your template setup (not difficult at all) you can link, bind & ungroup the ifc and Revit will report the properties of the entities of the ifc file.
... life saver
I'm trying REVIZTO? Linked file export to navisworks, including designoptions worked well for me now.
It does the job, allthough i can't save ifc to my local disk...

We tried also IFCExporter from www.navistools.net. Simple and functional.
However, I second the request for an integrated IFC exporter in future revisions of Navisworks. We don't use Revit for modeling and we use Navisworks for central aggregation and some properties editing.
But I have another question for the community: I'm thinking to develop another exporter, and I'm thinking to start from the opensource project of the Revit IFC Exporter (sourceforge.net/projects/ifcexporter).
This for us would be an advantage because we would be able to fine control properties formats and values, and even integrate it with information derived by other products and our projects' databases.
But this thing would also have negative sides, for example if Autodesk decide to develop its own IFC exporter for Navisworks... and maybe publish it also as opensource! ...
... or if someone else already tried it and discovered something that would prevent to achieve a satisfactory result...
In any case I may end wasting lot of time, that I don't have in excess...
So, anyone has tried to port Revit IFCExporter to Navisworks? Would be possible?
Thank you!
Massimo
Hi Massimo!
Are you finally developing an IFC Exporter for Navis? We are very interested in a plug-in like this.
Regards,
Pep

I realize i am replying to a post from Massimo, but this question is not specifically targetted at him. It is meant for anyone who is looking for or who has found an ifc exporter for Navisworks.
I noticed that this hyperlink now points to a website by codemill.
It could be a development from navistools.net, but no reference is to it is mentioned.
Is anybody using this tool and if so what are experiences with it.
Is it capable of merging 2 IFC files from Navisworks, to create a new aggregated model?
Is an exported model still compliant to the buildingsmart ifc standard?
Thank you.
Mike
Agreed we have the same issue on a few other projects, where IFC is the ONLY format allowed.
Dear all:
Meanwhile Naviswork do not export to IFC files, it is not a BIM Software. This is only a marketing AutoDesk policy to maintain all users with their software.
BIM is collaboration and share information without barriers. AutoDesk only impose barriers to get money from all of us.

still no solution here, right? all AR/VR apps using IFC that Navis can't produce and people need to pay $700 just to export files via iconstruct? not cool.
IFC is STEP and Autodesk doesn't invented it. Depspite Autodesk has the possibility to increase IFC reliability but do nothing.
