I just tried the navisworks app for appending pdf files and I notice an oddity. When you select the file in the selection tree and you go to units and transform it says that the units are inches. The pdf file is is a metric A0.
can this be fixed?
I haven't tried a 3D pdf. Will do in a little while
the app I have used is here:
I just tried but the 3D pdf don't work. The load but then you'll see a first page.
All,
the PDF reader works for 2D only. Please take a look at this blog post explaining this in some more detail http://beyonddesign.typepad.com/posts/2014/06/add-2d-pdf-sheets-with-autodesk-navisworks-2015-pdf-re...
At this point any format or units are ignored, as users will set the scale through the "Set Scale by Measurement" dialog:
Hope this helps!

Further to what Thomas has already explained, this also isn't necessarily a problem.
The units in the "units and transform" dialog are the internal units in which the model data is measured. It is incorrect to change them except in the rare case of a file-format where NW was unable to determine the units at the time it read the file.
So (for any kind of file) if it says a particular unit here (say "inches"), then all that probably means is that the PDF software internally uses inches to store its numbers. The internal measurement system of software is often unrelated to the units which are exposed to the user. e.g. there is usually some sort of "display units" setting which you can change to make the file display the correct kind of units for your project.
There is a display units setting in NW (it is in the global options) and this is usually the only unit settings that you will want to change...
We have recently reaslised that many users find this part of the UI confusing, and we are hoping to make things much clearer in a future release.
I hope this is useful,
