I love Switchback and have found it to be a valuable tool of coordinating Revit and Navisworks. I have gotten used to some basic errors of Navisworks timing out during the Switchback process, but nothing too extreme.
I have encountered my first major problem in my new project. When I click Switchback, nothing happens. No error message and no result. The plumbing.nwc cache file is created from a 3D model in a Revit file (Project 2). This 3D model is from a linked Revit file (Project 1) Thus the workflow: Project 1.rvt --linked-->Project 2.rvt--exported as nwc-->Navis file.nwf
Both Revit projects have been activated for switchback (Add-Ins_External Tools_Navisworks Switchback) Nothing is occurring. I assume the Navis file must not be properly going to Revit to display the pipe I wish to Switchback. My first Switchback attempt gave an error that asked for the file location to be resolved. I corrected this (or so I believed) by changing to location from my boss's local file to my own and re-exported the cache file from my local copy (Project 2). I made the switch but have not seen any more errors.
Still no luck. Is there a way I can check what project it is trying to go to? Any other solutions? Any information would be much appreciated.

Unfortunately this is a limitation of Switchback at the moment. We have an enhancement request in with development to support Switchback of Linked files.
Unfortunately the workaround at the moment would be to work with these files individually.
Please let me know if this answers your question.
Hi !
Have you installed the Service pack 1 ?

I saw the same problem with a friend and they didn´t install the SP 1 too.
After they do this, I send you a reply, or you could do the same.

Ricardo Cardial
Thank you Lee and Ricardo. Since your messages I have installed the Service pack and tried to work with the individual Revit files and cache files but have still not had full success. I no longer fail to get a response from Switchback. The new development is the response I do get is fatal error. I'll let you know if I have further developments, but I think the best I can do now is to continue to work with the individual files and how they are being read into Navisworks.
