Exporting NWC from Revit 2014 to Navis2014 Errors

Things to note, I believe i have all service packs for revit 2014 and Navis 2014 installed.

Due to project size we're exporting by current view (3d)

First question, Why is the NWC file size now 10x to 30x larger in 2014 than it was in 2013.

2nd issue.  From time to time we were getting the "No Suitable Geometery" issue.  Removed the view template, still getting the error from time to time.  Seems random.

3rd Issue.  When exporting we started getting these errors.

Autodesk.Revit.Exceptions.ExternalApplicationExcep tion: Category is unexpectedly NULL.
at Autodesk.Revit.DB.CustomExporter.Export(View3D view)
at NavisWorks11.LcIRevitBase.Export3DView(View3D view_3d, StateDictionary state_dict)
at NavisWorks11.LcIRevitBase.ExportDocument(String& return_message, ElementSet elements, LcIRevitParameters* params)

We submitted an SR for the file size issue, told it would be fixed in the next release.  Not really acceptable in my mind but what ever.

But the other 2 issues are a little concerning.  We're using the exact same settings as we did in 2013 and just seem to be running into all kinds of issues.

We're currently working on a very large scale pharma Manufacturing facilty dealing with over 60 models that we need to coordinate.

Any one have any ideas what's causing this or what the solution is?

Thanks in advance.

Hello,

Thank you for participating in our community!

For your “First question, Why is the NWC file size now 10x to 30x larger in 2014 than it was in 2013.”

This has been logged with our developers, and they are working on changing this behavior for a future release (2015).

For your send and third issues we will need the following to reproduce the issue in our environment:

  1. File you have been working on
  2. A step by step how to reproduce the issue. If possible, please use our free troubleshooting video creator: https://chronicle.autodesk.com/
  3. An Image of the error message
  4. Log file generated from the session in which the issue occurred. Information on creating a log file can be found here:

http://beyonddesign.typepad.com/posts/2011/10/creating-a-navisworks-log-file.html

If we can reproduce this behavior in our environment, we will document the case and log it with our development team.

Thank you and I look forward to your reply.

Best regards,

Hello,

Thank you for sharing log file and step by step how to reproduce video. Would you be able to share your working Revit file that you are trying to export?

I don't know that it's possilbe to share the revit model without an NDA plus the file is 130mb.

Is there another option?

Hello,

After reviewing log file, I believe this is caused by a combination of two parameter value settings within the view template. The parameters are "Detail Level" and "Model Display".

If you deselect the "include" box (see attached image) for these two parameters the issue should be resolved.

Nope

No View template is applied.  We've already tried that based on what I found in the Adesk knowledge base.

That did fix some of the issues we were having with some of the models.

I get the same error if I create a new 3d view and try to export that.

Same thing if I change the settings to include entire model.

We've also tried opening the reivt file directly in Navis and there's nothing there.

Nothing shown on the selection tree.

Revit Model was created in 2013, upgraded to 2014, and we can no longer create clash reports.
