Does anyone know of a way to increase the allowed size of image export to something greater than 2048x2048. Normally I would just use render but in this case I need to capture point cloud data as well.
It depends on your software. NavisWorks Review can only export to 2048square
NavisWorks Simulate and Navisworks Manage can go up way higher, even to a full blown Plot size in 300dpi.
If you need to do this often, then you need to upgrade (one of your) licenses.
The only workaround is to set your (virtual) desktop to the largest size supported by your graphpics card,
then launch NavisWorks and hide as many toolbars and pallets as possible
and use a Snap tool to capture your screen and save it as a JPG.

As far as I can tell you can only render images larger than 2048x2048 from any of the NavisWorks products. I have tried both Manage and Simulate and neither will let me Export > Image at a higher resolution. My problem is that I need to have point clouds visible in the exported image and point clouds by there one dimensional nature do not render.
Are you saying there is some way to get the Export > Image command to take a size larger than 2048x2048? That would be great if there was a way to do this.
Export image is limited to 2048, still unchanged in NW2011.
Export Rendered image is of course unlimited, but point clouds are indeed lost during this rendered image export.
If you want to make great HQ rendered images of point clouds togheter with new 3D Design, I think you have to go for e.g. Alicelabs Studio Clouds for 3ds Max. This software even drops object shadows onto the pointcloud.
