DWG to Navisworks issues

Hello all,

I have run into 3 problems when bringing AutoCAD dwg files into Navisworks, and was wondering if anyone has a solution to any of these.

1. I have 2 swept surfaces that were originally created with Inventor 2014. The Inventor ipt file appears intact in Navisworks (Manage 2014), but if I export a dwg file (in order to include additional geometry created in AutoCAD) and read this into Navisworks, the surfaces show up bulged/distorted.

The exported dwg file from Inventor has no issues when opened in AutoCAD (Surface_sweep_dwg.jpg). The distorted result in Navisworks can be seen in Surface_sweep_nwc.jpg

2. AutoCAD hatches do not show in Navisworks. I have read this has been a known problem for quite some time - has it still not been resolved?

3. AutoCAD blocks with attributes - attributes do not show in Navisworks.

Thanks in advance,

Samu

Just a hunch:
In Navisworks go to the Options -> File Readers -> DWG/DXF and try
- setting the Faceting Factor to a higher number , like 10 instead of 1
- switching "Merge 3D faces" OFF

Hi Patrick,

Thank you so much for the reply. Changing this:

"setting the Faceting Factor to a higher number , like 10 instead of 1"

gave me the result I was looking for!

Thanks again,

Samu
