Clash Detection Issues

Has anyone been experiencing weird issues with Navisworks Manage 2013 Clash Detective?  I have all the latest updates, SP2, Exporters, and the latest Clash Hotfix.  When I write a report to viewpoints everything is fine and dandy, however once I get out of the viewpoint that I am reviewing, my model is still the greyed out dimmed model and still shows a highlighted clash.  Nothing I do or have tried gets me out of that greyed out image and highlighted clash.  No settings I try changing in Clash detective affect it either.  What's the deal here?   Is this a bug?  Me and another expert have tried many different settings and testing and have had no success.  Suggestions welcome!

Hi Brandon,

Service Pack 2 included what can be considered a bug-fix, to ensure that when clash results are saved as viewpoints, the item transparency is preserved. This means that clash viewpoints are still informative even when Clash Detective is not present e.g. in Freedom. However, this uses existing viewpoint functionality to preserve material overrides so we also added a 'Reset Appearance' viewpoint that appears as the the first viewpoint in the folder. Clicking that viewpoint should get you back to the original model object settings.

For 2014 we have made the preservation of objects transparency optional when reporting clashes as viewpoints and it is also properly documented.

Another note of caution when saving clash viewpoints - ensure that you click 'Reset Appearance' before you save the file as an *.nwd, otherwise the material overrides will become part of the file and it will not be possible to reset them.

Hope that helps, and sorry for confusion caused.

Kind regards, Susan

Thanks, seems a little silly.  In using the reset appearance we also lose all the materials we previously added through appearance profiler.  Even though appearance profilier is easy to use, this is just more steps.

Hi Brandon,

Agreed, it is not the ideal solution for the problem customers were having, and other solutions to help customers communicate clash issues effectively are a big focus for our attention in current development efforts.

If you will always be using Clash viewpoints within Manage, and the preservation of clash information in viewpoints outside of Manage is not a requirement for you, then at least in 2014 you will be able to switch it off.

Apologies for the inconvenience caused in the meantime!

Knd regards, Susan

If you click on one of your batches in clash detection, it should take you out of dim mode. Sometimes the views get stuck on the last clash you looked at and you just need to reset the vew by clicking on the title of another batch. Hope this helps...

I am having the same issue with Manage 2014 and using Clash Viewpoints.  There still doesn't seem to be a way to get out of the Clash Results grey screen without using the "Reset Appearance".  When you click on the titles of one of your Viewpoint sets, it also does a full Reset which will also clear out any overrides that you have created.

I really want to use the Clash Viewpoints feature to share these view with others who use Freedom but don't want to change the appearence each time.  Any other suggestions would be appreciated.

Regards,

Gene

I'm running into a problem with this as well, once I click on the reset appearance, all of the colors I changed for the various layers (HVAC, Electrical...) they go back to their original coloring, which means I then have to change them all back to the colors I want. Quite a hassle and time waster, any ideas on how to lock the colors? Thanks.
