Annoying reset transform bug(?) upon append

I have CAD parts that I import into Navisworks (spatially uncorrelated) which I then move and rotate into place to make up a machine as a whole. I'm then appending point cloud data of the same machine in order to see its position in reality, for which I want to move my entire CAD machine to in order to put it in the right place.

But when appending the point cloud data, all or most transforms/rotations previously done to the CAD parts get reset, shattering the machine parts to their original positions and orientations. If I have only done e.g. one transform since opening up Navisworks, it seems that only that transform gets reset and not the other ones.

Not only is it annoying to spend time on transforms that get reset suddenly, but as the model is to be tested for clashes, it's a bit worrying not knowing if all pieces are in place or not, since small changes are hard to see.

It seems that saving the project -> new document -> load same project gets rid of this problem, but I'm wondering if there's something more effective to do, like lock transformations or something?

Thanks!

I've been playing around with this and trying some different combinations but cannot recreate this with any of the files I have.

Can you let me know an exact order of the files you bring in?

e.g. 2010 DWG, 2012 NWD, Faro 4.8 point cloud file.

At what point do you save an NWF?

If loading the Same project again works then this indicates that the transformations are not being lost by Navisworks completely, something is just going wrong in that session.

Which version of Navisworks is this? Do you have the Service packs and Subscription updates installed? You can check the exact version under Help > About Navisworks **version name and number**
