Animated transparencies not rendering properly with presenter

Hi,

I'm trying to render out some animation which has a lot of animated transparencies. E.g. a building slowly appearing over time. However, when i render it out using presenter, instead of the object being transparent there is a silhouette of the object.

I don't have any material applied to the object and i'm trying to use as simple a lighting set up as possible. Currently this only includes two lights, simple sky and sun.

I've tried applying a material but this seems to negate the animated transparencey (i.e. the object is always visible). I've also tried setting the object to not cast shadows which doesn't do anything either 😞

Has anyone had success with animated transparencies and the presenter renderer?

Can you check in your Presenter Materials Palette for a material named 'ByLayer'? If you have this material, please delete it as it's likely this is a material automatically created when importing some DWG files.

Also can you please ensure each frame of the animation has 'Override Material and 'Hide Required' checked under the Edit menu, this will save any Transparencies, Sections in the Viewpoint itself. If there are many frames then you might want to change this setting in Home button > Options > Interface > Viewpoint Defaults and recreate the animation.

I hope this helps, let us know how you get on

Thanks for the reply Lee.

There is no material named 'ByLayer' in the materials palette, or any other material for that matter.

As for checking the 'override material' and 'hide/required', I am assuming you mean in the 'edit current viewpoint' option box. Since that is the only place i can seem to find those options, and they are greyed out. How do i activate them?

Hello,  I am having the same issue the previous poster had.  However, I cannot find the two check boxes you are mentioning.

Thank you,

Evan
