Multiple simulations - Navisworks Manage 2013

Is it possible to run two different simulations in navisworks manage 2013 under the same window. i.e. as planned vs actual using the one construction programme? If not, do any autodesk products support this function?

Thanks in advance.

Hi PhillipBurton4238

There is an existing wishlist item logged in this regard.   Unfortunately, currently you are unable to play more than one simulation at once in Navisworks.  You can split the view (View > Scene View > Split View), however, only one simulation can play in both view windows.

You are able to open two sessions of Navisworks and play the simulations at the same time; however, the issue would be in starting both at the same time.

You can export to an AVI (or individual image frames), but the export of the TimeLiner simulation animation can only be one of the simulations (Planned, Actual, Planned Against Actual, etc).  You aren’t able to export two side by side.

I’m unsure of Autodesk software that can import two AVI files to play them side by side.   Perhaps Autodesk Maya or Autodesk Smoke can perform this function.  You can pose this question on the forum dedicated to these applications:

http://area.autodesk.com

There are third party applications that can playback two AVI files at the same time.  I ran a web search on “application that plays two AVI simultaneously” and there were some recommendations in various blogs and forums.  I suggest a web search for some of those that are recommended in the various blogs on video editing.  I've not tried these and can't suggest one third parties application over another.

I recommend sending a wishlist item in this regard on our feedback page from the link below:

The information you send through this page is reviewed by our development team and coming from an end user, this offers a compelling business case.

Hi,

I was wondering what the option what the option "planned against actual" in timeliner/simulate/settings actual purpose is.I wasnt able to understand the function of that option.

My problem is i should be able to show the simulation of planned against actual simulation.from the vissual the viewer should be able to know the difference in progress.

thanks in forehand...please help me clarify this doubt

I know this is an old post but I was looking into this myself for Navisworks and I am now using Synchro which allows 2 viewports simulations to run at the same time showing planned v's actual, and export the result to avi.

Navisworks needs to step up considerably in its 4D capability to match Synchro.
