Inventor 2011 to Navisworks 2011

Hi all,

Navisworks Manage 2011 will open native Inventor 20011 files (.ipt and .iam) - so far so good. The problem I'm facing is that if the assembly file is saved with a LOD (a load of parts suppressed) then this is the only representation that shows up in Navisworks.

Is there a 'switch' when importing inventor files into navisworks that will automatically import the 'master' representation and ignore the LOD that the assembly file was last saved as.

Thanks in advance,

Phil

P.S. Yes, I have also posted this in the Navisworks forum.

Hi Phil,

Just to verify what was said on the other post. the Factory Design Suite 2011 version of Navisworks does have this switch but there is no switch in the standard versions of Navisworks. An enhancement request is in our database to try and include this in a future version.

Hi Lee,

We installed the latest service and the subscription pack for NW2011, found the switch for importing work planes but no LOD switch. If it's included in a coming release that would be great.

I did find that once SP1 was installed, NW was importing the Inventor assembly files with a master LOD by default so that everything was coming in. This is better than having parts missing but a LOD switch.....keep working on it.

Thanks,

Phil
