Extraction from Navis

HI..

Does any one know, whether there is any option to extract data from Navisworks, like when we integrate MSP schedule to Navisworks, based on the % completion of the particular activity can we get the quantity of work completed in some text format that can later be converted to excell.

Please suggest..This would be really helpful for Site planning department...

At the moment the only way to do this would be through CSV export of Timeliner tasks and dates.

Please let us know if this answers your question.

Thank you,

but this is not the solution concept I need. In one of your previous solution to a post with subject "Volume show in Simulation", it was mentioned that the % volume of the activity can be displayed on the screen along with the time, during simulation. which means that the data of % volume completed is available in the properties of the element. So I just want to know whether there is any option to extract this data in to some text file. If not why dont the Autodesk try to put some option to extract the same, which is useful for the construction engineers.

The percentage displayed is just the percentage of the time of the task rather than a volume. In that case the task can also relate to a volume. It should be possible to report out through the API all the tasks that are in progress on a set day.

I dont know much about API, and I am not comfortable with coding. So can you please suggest me how I can know more about this API, so that I can solve some problems that I face in extracting the data from Navis.

Thank you.

If you're not comfortable with coding then I'd suggest you contact someone who is. There are some examples in the API folder in the installation of Navisworks but you will need need some knowledge in this area.

They can get additional advice through the API forum

And join ADN (Autodesk Developer Network) if they want additional support
