Error Installing Naviswors

I am grad student trying to install the Navisworks free trial for my BIM class. I nearly completed the installation and I got an error message, stating "CRC failed; unexpected end to archive"(see attached). It also prompts me to re-download the files. I have done that twice and I end up at the same point. Please help.

You're trying to unpack a Manage 2013. The most recent 30-day trial is Mange 2015 and downloadable from

Hello there,

CRC checksums are meant to check if the file is valid,

unchanged and it´s integrity has not been tampered with.

Some sites provide the checksum with the download to

enable you to check if the files are genuine. The installer

checks the archives integrity automatically.

CRC errors while installing (the unpacking part is the pro-

blem) can eighter be adressed by a connection or a RAM

issue. You should be checking your system Ram with Mem-

test to verify it´s ok. Have a look if the test passes run flaw-

lessly. Also have a look if there is a file system issue with

your hard drive at present, a bad block for example can

make all the difference.

If overclocked, reduce the system speed to stock values.

Try to lower the Ram frequency to "lower than stock"

values and see if it works.

Good luck

Kind regards

Daniel - thanks for the information, but could this also make the files corrupt? If so, how do I go about 1) lowering the RAM frequency? 2) checking for a bad blocks?

Thanks for the info. I assumed the Manage 2013 corresponds with Navisworks 2013, right?

Hello there,

to lower your RAM frequency you should be checking your

BIOS manual. Usually you can define all the variables there.

Bad Block checks might be possible with Windows very own

tool. Bring up the properties window for the drive you down-

load the files to and use the "check for errors" option therein.

Usually you won´t need a third- party software to get the basic

errors sorted out. If so have a look at CheckDrive 2014. It´s has

been recommended by a famous German computer magazine.

And don´t forget Mem Test 😉

Kind regards

Daniel

Correct - the Navisworks line for the 2013 releases consist of Simulate, Manage, and Freedom.

Something else to check are anti-virus permissions.  Downloads can get modified in an attempt to protect your system.
