Duplicate Clash Test

Hello,

Is it possible to Duplicate/Copy an Existing Clash Test?

I have a Clash Test (MEP v Structure - Basment Level 01, 02 & 03) set up and running fine and I have it organised into groups (Slabs v  Ducts, Slab v Cable Trays, etc...) and is all running fine.

I now want the same Clash Test (MEP v Structure - Basment Levels) but grouped slightly differently (Slabs B01 v  Ducts, Slab B02 v Ducts, etc...). I know I can just start a new test with the sets I have set up and regroup the new clashes, but then I will loose all results, such as Active, Resolved, Approved, Etc...

Anyone got any workarounds?

You can get a copy of an existing clash test by exporting, and the importing the current clash tests (and deleting any extras you didn't want copied as every clash test is exported and then re-imported).

However, this will not maintain the results of the clash tests.

Hi,

That doesn't really do what I want. Although that will copy the Clash Test it will not keep the Results which is one of the Items I was trying to achive.

Thanks.

Johnny.

You could also try creating a copy of the original Navisworks file, rename the clash test, and then merge the two files (the original and the copy).

You can use the following link to submit a wish list item, or product feedback:

Can anyone offer a little more detail on how to do this?  I tried it and it didn't work.

In my first test I'm running fire protection against architectural, concrete, and lights.  I want to add ductwork to both sides (with the rules set to ignore items in the same file) so that I can check the FP against the duct and the duct against the building, all at the same time.

I saved the NWF with the original clash test and called the new NWF "TEST 02".  I then went to the original clash test and added the duct to both sides, re-ran the test, and closed TEST 02.  I then opened the original NWF, merged in TEST 02, but when I go to the new clash test I get all "resolved" clashes and no files highlighted in the "select" tab.

the steps are

save your nwf

resave your nwf with a new name

in the new nwf rename your clash sets (apend the number 1 to end of set so when merged they are beside each other)

save the new nwf.

open the origional nwf

merge the two files.

By clash "sets" do you mean "tests" or "groups"?

Not trying to be picky, but I don't know what clash sets are.

Just to elaborate, here is what I'm getting.

Original clash test results in merged NWF.

01.JPG

Copied clash test results in merged NWF (note they are all yellow/resolved)

02.JPG

when we look at the "select" tab for the original test we see that the files are selected

03.JPG

but when we look at the "select" tab for the merged-in test we see that nothing is selected

If I choose the files from the left and re-run the test, all of the old groups still appear as "resolved" and all of the clashes appear as "new".

Hi

All i can say is that if works perfectly for me. And have not got the isues you report.

If you wish to upload your nwf (including nwc's) i could test it out.
