Clashing an area of a model

Is it possible to clash only a portion of a model.  Say you want to clash one room fo an entire floor.  I have tried to enable sectioning and the clash still finds hits outside the area selected.  I have also used select box and hid all unselected items.  However some pipes and ductwork start well outside the area and do not get selected.  Also once done Cannot get the model back to view prior to hiding.  Unhing all brings in stuff not wanted.

Make a selection set of everything in a room, and in clash detection choose it. Easy way to search clashes in single room

We use sectioning to clash areas of our model. Based on how our overall schedule has been set up, we make different viewpoints for each department of our hospital, and then also make overall floor viewpoints as well.

We will select which department viewpoint that we want to clash, and use the "filter by selection" option in the clash detective window. Depending on if you are dragging the selection box from top-left to bottom-right, or vice-versa, it will affect the extent of what is selected. Group everything in the selection, un select the "filter by selection box," group all clashes outside of the area and name accordingly, then ungroup the area you are focusing on. We use "sort by proximity" option in the clash detective window and then use the grouping tool to group clashes by room, etc. You can get to the "sort by proximity" option by right clicking on a clash result.

We have also used the assign tool to assign to an area, room, etc. just to have an extra way to sort information when working in multiple areas at a time. There are multiple ways to achieve the same result.
