how can i make the modelitems back to the original Material

i want to do something like the clash detective in navisworks which when i click the clashresult item,the item1 and item2 are in pink and the other modelitems are become like "line style",their Transparency is changed.So the support Mr.Liang told me that after give the models some material,they can't be change color,the only way is give them new material.so my question is how to make the models back to the original material after give them new material,TKS
