Connect to SQL Server

It seems like it should be simple, but I can't make the connection.  The error is "Unable to set one or more links to active due to insufficient/invalid information. Setting them to inactive"  Here's my query:

SELECT * FROM TEST WHERE "Struct_tblCurvedPlateParts.CurvedPlatePartName" = %prop("ShipConstructor","Part Name");

What am I missing?  Is there a basic tutorial on connecting to and querying SQL server data?  Thanks for any info

I'm trying to do the same. There appears to be no proper support on the topic. If anybody can help it would be much appreciated.

 Hi,

The first I can think of is the database table might have missed some items the SQL code requires. In addition, the SQL code is sensitive to localization. i.e. the properties names in the SQL code should match the display name of the properties as you can see in UI.

If none of the above helps,  please do not mind I am directing you to the help of Data Tool, where you might find more info to diagnose the problem.

In addition, Data Tool is a product feature. So the best board is Navisworks General Questions

I no longer receive any errors but i am not seeing any of the datatools properties from my database. The linked fields are the same between Navisworks and the database. I'm not sure what the problem is.

Hi,

DataTool is more product specific. Can I suggest you post the question to product board?

e.g. I simply searched with some keywords in your description on product board and found a post:

Xiaodong

May I know is it possible to connect Naviswork to SQL database (.mdf)? The examples found on net are mainly M Excel and M Assess. Thanks.

This thread has an accepted answer which is a working link to a informative blog posting.
