vb.net - migrate to 2014 from 2012 - Interop.Common issues

i"m getting the following error in my project:

'AcadLayer' is ambiguous in the namespace 'Autodesk.AutoCAD.Interop.Common'

'acColor' is ambiguous in the namespace 'Autodesk.AutoCAD.Interop.Common'

I'd post the code, but it is a huge program with a form with a lot of code behind it, so I'm hoping there is a general solution to my problem.

I was new to vb.net 2 years ago when I wrote my project & it worked fine in 2012. I cannot recall why I used COM acadlayer & accolor instead of .NET objects. but it worked, & I'd rather not screw around with a bunch of stuff.

I have reset my reference to the 2014 objectARX DLL files & added the acCoreMgd DLL to my project.

if I remove the

Imports Autodesk.AutoCAD.Interop.Common

statement, my error changes w/ the tip of adding the statement. IF I have it do that I get the ambiguous arror again.

if I change acadlayer to Autodesk.AutoCAD.Interop.Common.acadLayer I get the same ambiguous message.

why is it ambiguous?
