ot has anyone got sqlexpress to work with c# express?

I know this ng is for acad net api but assume many of you here also use sql
for acad related projects
has anyone succeeded at running even a simple database app with
c#express/sqlexpress?
I can't get sqlexpress to function yet, despite hours of searching and
following links and sites etc

I use it religiously for storing Layer Information and a few other things.
