autocad .net same speed .exe compared to .dll?

i have been programming dll's using visual basic.net and netload it into autocad/civil 3d and type a command to run the program, which has a form. would it be the same speed if i make it an exe application and start controlled autocad session from there, would it be as fast as the dll application loaded from cad? I would presume it would be slower. The real question though is are you using the .NET API or ActiveX API because you can only use the .NET API with the netloaded dll.

i know the vba stuff you can start a session of cad from exe in vb.net. but it's super slow to run. so you are saying the .net api can only be netload into the session? oh well. keep the way i am doing things i guess.

What he's saying is the .NET managed API's can only be used in a .dll, the .EXE can only use the COM (aka ActiveX) API's.
In my experience, the managed API's are much faster than using COM.
