Technical feasibility

I have a prospective project that requires me to develop a web interface to manipulate a DWG file. From much Googling I believe that a .NET website using the RealDWG component is the approach I need to pursue.

The web interface would load in a DWG space plan of an office space, which contained desk, chairs, storage etc. The interface would then enable the user to make changes to the arrangement of desk, chairs and storage with the changes being reflected in the DWG file.

Without having access to the RealDWG dlls or any form of API documentation I'm finding it hard to work out if it is technically possible to achieve the desired objectives and how complex the implementation is likely to be.

Is the proposed feasible?

Is it possible to get access to a developer version of RealDWG without committing to a paid license?

Do I need to purchase a RealDWG and also a developer subscription to get access to the full resource of documentation?

Contact your reseller about acquiring a RealDWG license.

Sure technically it is possible.

You would need a backend server to get the information
from the web page and process the information and sent it back.

Look into FreeWheel to display your model.

http://freewheel.autodesk.com/

You can also look at http://www.opendwg.org

This is an alternative to RealDWG and
only costs 250 for an associate membership to try it out.
2000 for a commercial one.

The API is designed to build an application from the ground up and not just a DWG interface.

Are RealDWG and DWGdirect.NET similar in their technical implementation?

If I was to purchase an ODA associate membership to do more feasibility would I be able to reproduce the same implementation in RealDWG.

What are the benefits of RealDWG over the open source alternative?
