Recognizing solid features

When opening a third party drawing, is it possible to use the API to "recognize" user-created 3D features in AutoCAD? For example: grooves, holes, notches, and such? Also, if there are any attributes attached to the original 2D sketch, can those be queried as well? Would appreciate any insight or pointers and will be happy to post any further details as needed.

Hi,

I would not know how to "attach attributes to 2D-sketch" in plain AutoCAD ... or are you speaking about a vertical product? Also the phrase "user-created 3D features" seems to be from a vertical, sounds more like Inventor (or at least mechanical) than AutoCAD. If it's a vertical ==> which one?

If it's AutoCAD itself can you show a drawing with (and the way to get) attributes attached to a sketch.

If you are speaking about blocks (BlockReferences), then each BlockReference has a property AttributeCollection (a collection of ObjectIDs pointing to AttributeReference-objects).
