.NET DWG Reader

I need a .NET API that will allow me to read dwg files an extract the block references and attributes attached to them. It has to work with AutoCAD 2007 files (other versions would be good too) and it cannot require AutoCAD to be installed on the machine while it runs. I think RealDWG will do this, but it's fairly expensive. Does anyone know of any alternatives? I'm a little surprised that there aren't more tools out there that do this given how popular and old the dwg file format is.

According to your website, the only product that would appear to support what I'm trying to do is DWGdirect.NET and it's in alpha. Is there another product that fits my needs?
