Re: Is VS 2003 ok for A2006, or is VS 2005 beta the way to go?

Well, I guess I don't know what build you are running. I'm using a build
from MS that was posted 3 days ago on MSDN. It works fine. Beta2 that you
are most likely running had several issues. We reported these to MS and they
fixed them one by one. Beta2 was long time ago. They had 3 or 4 public
    builds since then.

Various issues primarily related to controls and dialog boxes such as Layer
Manager. The controls either do not function properly - eg add a layer,
change its setttings and it disappears, or the controls don't function at
all such as some of the Properties dropdowns [internal combos] never appear
as they should. If they are fixed, I am wrong but I have never seen nor
    heard where they were addressed.

Hmmm...could be the case. My build is from some time in July or early
August. I'll have to head there this weekend and download the latest VS.
Thanks and I'll let you know if the issues are still present.
