Change Xref PathName

I have read through other threads pertaining to changing the PathName of an xref in a drawing ( http://discussion.autodesk.com/forums/thread.jspa?messageID=6327420豼 is an example). If I change the pathname, save, close, and reopen the drawing, then the results are as expected.

How can I force AutoCAD to update/reload the xref after I change the path without having to save, close, and reopen?

Tony, I had a feeling you were going to be the one to bail me out. As always, thank you much.

A new question related, after pathname changed xref layers' status restored, just like VISRETAIN is set to 0.

In ACAD you can change xref pathname and layer status will stay. How can I do that in .Net?

Thank you.
