Application/Drawing Status Bar

Is there a way to determine when the Drawing Status Bar visibility has changed? I'd like to modify my custom panes depending on whether it's turned on or off.

Also: Is there a way to add custom panes to the standard list of panes?

For anyone else with this problem: The system variable STATUSBAR controls visibility of status bars. Add an event handler to check changes to system variables.
