weird viewport shading

Hi, does anyone have similar viewport problems? Everything was fine until save and reopen (both in max 2015). When I render it out, everything looks good.
Same file in max 2014 no problem.

Thanks for help

Try adding an Edit Normals modifier to the object and hitting the Reset button.

thanks Alex, but it doesn't work. I don't really know where could be the problem, other projects seem to be correct.

This is caused by messed up smoothing groups.

Simply choose the appropriate subobject level (face/polygon), select all, hit Auto Smooth.

Maybe you need to try different values for the angle...

Stefan, smoothing groups are alright. I've tried to import geometry into new scene and it looks it helped for now...in any case it's weird

It's a problem I've had before and fixed it with the normals reset.  https://twitter.com/looksfeels/status/441222291590889472

But it could be caused by something else.  If you find out what, please share!

Thanks

Hi. Seems to be a display problem only, so try changing some of the parameters in the viewport settings. Looks like you use default light. If so, then first thing to try, is to change the default light from 2 to 1 (or the opposite). If this doesn't help then:
- Check if lowering the AO values helps
- Check if switching from "Realistic" to "Shaded" helps

Hope it helps
