In this youtube video, someone clones a model, moves it to the left, then does something to make the clone appear more smooth and round. I'm just now learning softimage and would like to know what this effect is. I can't find information on it anywhere. The guy uses it around 0:36.

Hi,
That is openGL subdivision level. Just press plus (+) on numeric keyboard a few times. Depending on how many times you press, the object will appear smoother. Once or twice is usually all you need.
Minus key (-) to bring the level down.
Cheers
