Smoothing trouble

Hi everyone. What I want to do is export a smoothed high poly mesh into zbrush and then reconstruct subdivisions in zbrush. I have hard edges and vertices marked, so when I use the plus key to subdivide it works how I want it to (like smoothing groups would). However, when I export after subdividing with the plus key zbrush doesn't notice the smoothing or the subdivisions. Since marking hard edges doesn't work anywhere but Softimage, how do I get the same result as subdividing with the plus key when exporting?

You probably have to convert to nearest approximation and then export.

Edit-Duplicate Instantiate-Duplicate Using Geometry Approx

That will create a duplicate (overlaid right on the orignal mesh) with the high resolution polygons and you can export in obj format.  If you just export your smoothed polygon object without doing this, the original low resolution exports with no smoothing (or your edge creases).
