amrib shuts down MDT2005

I am having trouble creating a simple rib.
I create the open profile.
I dimension it.
I set all the required values.
But when I select the OK button, all it does it automatically shut down MDT 2005.
There is no error message. There is no error report screen. The whole application just flat out shuts down, as if it were instantly erased from the RAM.

What the heck is going on? If anyone can give me some sort of advice, that would be swell.
Thanks,
Lisztman

Yes, I get the same thing here. I always thought it was my POS system. Mike
may step in an ask for a AMVER. So you might want to post that. This is
mine:

Yeah, thanks.
I don't have any version mentioned when I type in AMVER. I probably have the version straight from the CDs.
So it is:

You might want install service packs because it fixed some other issues but
it won't help this case out any. Also do a bug report when you have time.

What do you mean by bug report? Are you referring to those things that pop up occasionally when MDT shuts down.

And the reason why I do not have any service packs installed is because I had experienced about 50 times the number of errors and crashes than I did without them.
MDT literally ran worse with the service packs installed.

Sorry about my bad English. I'm from America.

You might want TO install THE service packs because it fixed some other
issues but
it won't help this case out any. Also do a bug report when you have time.

No, there's a place somewhere on AutoDesk's website for bug reporting.

The service packs for '05 have been working pretty good for me so for here.

Can I get the drawing you are using and the steps needed to reproduce the
crash? Have you sent in crash reports for this issue?

Never mind about all this. I already significantly altered the file to a state where it would not be practical to try and recreate the problem.
I just did a normal extrude instead of a rib function.
Thanks everyone for the advice though.

Mike, try this one. These are not the same steps every time. It's just the
steps to make this one crash. Change the extrusion from blind to midplane.
Then try and do an amrib on the open profile. Also if you try to just do an
amextrude on an open profile it will crash. Not something I do all the time.
Sometimes I make a profile and don't realize the profile is open, try to
extrude it and it crashes to the desktop.

Thanks. I verified that in the 2005 release it vaporizes. In both the 2006
and 2007 releases, the AMRIB command fails to generate the rib, but no
crash.
