Missing cursor in MDT R6

Hi, by one of our customers, I have a problem with one of the
installations: The cursor in the graphich area is missing in MDT R6.
For trying to solve the problem, our customer performed the procedure
below from Mike Dickason, without luck.

PC spec's:

MDT R6 SP3
Inventor R5.3 SP1
Windows 2000 SP2

nVidia GeForce graphics (can't remember chip-version)
nVidia Detonator 23.11 drivers

1024 Mb RAM.

Another PC with same spec's performs well

Trevor,

Try the following:

- Minimize all applications
- Right click on your Windows desktop and select Properties
- Select the Settings tab
- Select Advanced
- Select the Troubleshooting tab
- Change the Hardward acceleration from full to one position down from
full.
- Select Apply and then OK out of all dialogs

Now bring up MDT and see if you still have cursor problems.

If anyone have some advise, I will look forward to that.

Lars,
There still is the old advice from MDT5 that might help:
- deselect "force hardware cursor" in the windows driver settings
- check if the pickbox isn't set to zero and the color of the cursor is OK
Sorry if this sounds too simple...

Leo, it sounds like you were referring to Mike Dickason's suggestions
as I posted. They didn't work unfortunately.

For few hours ago I was at the customer-site. I even configured MDT to
use software acceleration instead of "wopengl7.hdi" for a test. That
didn't work either. Finally I had to untag "Dynamic Object Selection"
in Mechanical Options, which helped, but the user then can't use the
advantages that Dynamic Object Selection provides. It is stange to me.

As already mentioned the customer has 2 computers with the same
configuration hw+sw, so my next step could be to export the HLM + HCU
registry subkey's for a comparison between the two, maybe this
procedure will enlighten something??

I'm sure you have checked the "hardware acceleration" under the advanced
display settings? I know I had to back mine down a bit to get the cursor to
show properly.

Lars,
I had the same problem and fixed it by upgrading my video card drivers. Give that a try.

Hi,

The video driver is usually the problem, but if you
cannot fix that, then try changing AMSELDYNAMIC to 0, when it is set to 1 the
cursor goes darker and this may not be visible.

Hope this helps.
